SciArt
WHO WE ARE
Our skilled team of visual technicians boasts expertise in a range of fields including photography, videography, engineering, and physics. We are proud to offer a variety of innovative visual solutions that are at the forefront of technological advancements. At Wenedik, our SciArt division specializes in photomicrography, a unique blend of scientific observation and artistic microscopic photography. Our workflow primarily involves crystallizing various substances on laboratory slides and analyzing them using our cross-polarized optical solution. We also conduct a thorough examination of cross-sectional slices of different plants and fruits. Our services are tailored to meet the needs of various industries and academic institutions seeking cutting-edge visual solutions.
AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH
SciArt photography is a genre of visual art that merges scientific principles and artistic concepts to create visually compelling and thought-provoking images. It involves the use of scientific methods, techniques, and tools to produce images that are both visually appealing and in some way scientifically valid. SciArt photography can take various forms, including digital art, photography, and videography, and often explores themes related to the natural world, such as biology, chemistry, ecology, and astronomy. Through the use of SciArt photography, complex scientific ideas can be communicated to a broader audience in a visually appealing and engaging manner. The field of SciArt photography is an expanding one that has gathered increasing interest in recent years. Many artists and photographers have embraced this genre to craft unique and innovative works that challenge the boundaries between science and art.
At Wenedik, we employ an array of hardware, software, and specialized techniques to deliver the most accurate representation of objects and artworks. We mainly utilize cross-polarized light and specialized lighting strategies to achieve various colors and textures. For larger reproduction ratios, gigapixel panoramic shooting techniques are employed with a medium-format microscopic optical solution, which involves a sophisticated combination of hardware and software.
• Up to 150 Megapixel Single Shots
• Gigapixel Panoramic Shots
• Up to 20:1 Reproduction Ratio
• Microscopic Through Cosmic Scales

SUGAR CRYSTALS
When observed under a cross-polarized microscope, the intricate beauty of sugar crystals is unveiled in a magnificent display. These crystals exhibit captivating details, showcasing iridescent hues and geometric shapes. Emitting colors akin to a rainbow, the tiny structures present semi-symmetrical patterns, rendering each crystal a unique masterpiece. If the crystal’s thickness is comparable to the visible light wavelength, it exhibits an iridescent appearance, creating a rainbow-like array of colors. Otherwise, it appears in different shades of gray under a double-polarized setup. Achieving the appropriate thickness is crucial for the desired outcome.
MAGNETITE SAND
Metallic crystals possess a remarkably consistent structure across both macro and micro scales. When viewed under a microscope, these crystals reveal a captivating and complex formation. Resembling celestial bodies, they exude a shimmering iridescence, embodying a harmonious blend of order and chaos. Their perfect structure coexists with partial destruction, craters, and oxidization, evoking images of cosmic landscapes populated by drifting meteorites.

Join us in delving into the beauty inherent in the very structure of glass itself.
BUTTERFLY WINGS
The wings of each butterfly are adorned with thousands of vibrant scales and hairs, each varying in shape, size, and color. This unique combination contributes to the distinct appearance of each butterfly species, aiding in camouflage, mate attraction, and predator deterrence. Ranging from less than a millimeter to a few millimeters in length, these thin and translucent scales refract light, creating the iridescent effect commonly observed in butterflies.
